August marked one of the most important months yet in the evolution of Cortex.

July established a specialized intelligence layer: internally developed AI, on-device privacy and prompt protection, a coordinated AI Model Ensemble, and enterprise context extending from engineering and cloud systems into Salesforce. August was about making those pieces work together.

Enterprise AI is becoming part of how modern teams understand, build, secure, and improve software. But the way people work has never been limited to a single screen.
An idea may begin on a phone between meetings. Research may happen in a browser. A production question may surface while reviewing an issue or reading documentation. The implementation itself may need to happen in Visual Studio Code, where the code, development tools, and project context already live.

AI-assisted software delivery is moving beyond individual code suggestions. The next frontier is coordinated execution: understanding the work, organizing the right expertise, respecting dependencies, and validating outcomes before change reaches production.

One year ago, Cortex launched with a focused goal: bring intelligent coding and security assistance directly into the developer environment. The first release in Microsoft VS Code could help developers write code, scan existing code for security issues, and remediate problems, while connecting that developer experience with Pervaziv AI’s broader DevSecOps platform.

Twelve months later, Cortex has evolved far beyond its starting point.

The first year of Cortex was defined less by any one feature than by how quickly the product expanded from a focused coding assistant into a broader Enterprise AI platform for software engineering. What began inside VS Code with code generation, security analysis and remediation gradually accumulated the other pieces needed for real engineering work: enterprise context, multiple development surfaces, cloud infrastructure, specialized models, privacy controls, validation, reliability and increasingly deliberate human oversight.

AI is rapidly becoming part of how modern organizations design, build, secure, and deliver software. But for many teams, the first question is still practical: Where do we start? Cortex was built to answer that question with a clear path forward.
